The decision for home schooling was based on a number of factors: desire to teach religion as part of the curriculum, undesireable school conditions, and overall dissatisfaction with the school’s curriculum.Although it’s difficult for researchers to gather data on home schools, some research indicates that adults who were home schooled have a higher college attendance rate and seem more satisfied with life in general.Home schooled children have consistently scored exceptionally higher than average on achievement tests. I recently read that home schooled 3rd graders scored higher than 81% of public school students in math alone!www.SuccessfulHomeSchool.info

After-school programs should aim beyond the academics. With today’s fast paced world and with more and more things to cope with, children will need to be equipped with not just the academic side of society. Brilliant Minds, a school that offers after-school programs for Hollywood, Broward County, Dade County and Pembroke Pines, FL are doing just that. Tutoring is already a staple for after-school programs and enrichment programs but what Brilliant Minds introduces to the table is the focus on social and emotional learning (SEL) for a more holistic approach on teaching young school children. Their K-5 After-school Programs cover…

I’m 17, a junior in high school, and was wondering….
1.What are the kinds of jobs that you can get in working with special needs children? I’m especially interested in autistic children.
2.What would be the courses I would need to take in college?
3.What degrees would I need?

The after-school programs provided by schools in Hollywood, Florida; Pembroke Pines, Broward County, and Dade County initially aim to help children academically. Tutors of these after-school programs provide additional support systems for kids who are having difficulties coping with their studies. However, an interesting observation on these special school programs have been found to have a relationship with statistics on the incidence of violence towards school children. Statistics from the National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) of the US Bureau of Justice have shown that the rate of violence from 1973 to 2008 have steadily decreased since the emergence of after-school programs.…

A parent’s involvement in their child’s school and academic life has positive effects on her child’s growth, not only in school, but later on in life. The more a parent is involved in her child’s education, the more likely the child is to achieve higher than average grades, and develop a positive attitude towards school and homework. These children are also more likely to pursue higher education.
Given the benefits,…
