In what ways can a teacher legally discipline a child?

Question by : In what ways can a teacher legally discipline a child?
I had heard that in Ontario, under the Education Act, a teacher can discipline a child in the same way that a parent can. I don’t know if that’s true but that’s why I am asking the question…

So I want to know if it is true, and then if yes, what does it mean by the ways that a parent can discipline the child, or if no. then in what ways can the teacher discipline the child??

Thank you.

Can anyone suggest books on alternatives to spanking for child discipline?

Question by spidermonkey: Can anyone suggest books on alternatives to spanking for child discipline?
I will be having my first child soon. I would like to raise this child without spanking. I would love to have a book with alternative ideas.
P.S. Please do not leave answers in support of spanking. I’m not interested.
I really appreciate everyone’s input. Your suggestions are useful, but I would really like to actually have a book with specific scenarios for future reference. It would also help if the book was supported by experts as I am trying to find this material…

I need a website that was unhelpful or vague or just flat out bad but it has to be about child discipline, child guidance or parenting.

Any website for unusual child discipline methods cross culturally?

Question by Renee: Any website for unusual child discipline methods cross culturally?
I am doing a reserach paper and I want to include unusual but legal child discipline methods in other countries. I’m having a hard time finding any information. Please help me.
Thanks
For instance, the practice of the Vietnamese to make disobedient children kneel on uncooked rice, or children who are burned by candle wax as acceptable forms of punishment. I’m trying to find unusual but acceptable methods of child discipline in countries outside of the U.S. I hope this helps.
