Numbers are just numbers. They are representative of real things but carry no real meaning without association. Two apples. Three children. Ten dollars. If I don’t put at least one word at the end of those numbers, they wouldn’t mean much to you. You can’t just walk up to somebody on the street, blurt out, “Fifteen,” and expect them to understand what you’re trying to get across. The words which surround the number give it power.
