Hey everyone! Thanks in advance for any help anyone offers. My DH lost his job more than a month ago. We live in the Chicago suburbs. I was a stay-at-home mom. Now, I have been faced with going back to work and haven’t had much luck here. Neither has he, in fact I’ve had more luck and he has a fantastic resume! However, I have had some hopeful conversations with a recruiter in Dallas. We have wanted to move out of this area for a while, and do have family in Dallas. I have more family here in Chicago, but…

Often I wondered what it could be like to grow up with oneâs parents in prison. A few days ago I brought up this question during a meeting with a group of educators in Chicago. But their varying views didnât suffice my curiosity.
There are over 2 million children in the US who have one or more parents in prison. If we begin with the idea that a child needs his parents, it would be important to study how parental absence affects a child.
In âBetween Parents and Childâ Dr Haim Ginott underscores the fact that a childâs greatest fear…

When watching the talk shows discuss the subject of aging parents, it’s usually about the hospital bills, the doctor appointments, and juggling personal time now that your parents no longer drive; about parent/child role reversals.
The one subject that I never hear addressed is of daily living with aging parents and juggling all the different personalities in the home. Elderly people have very strong, opinionated minds of their own; at least my parents do.
For instance, my husband and I have a particular sense of décor that we prefer. Micro fleece dark green couches, big professor-like chairs, a gorgeous…

UNICEF has been waging war against international adoption for many years contrary to popular understanding. Itâs a war with results that fall far short of real time solutions to the spoils of its victories. UNICEFâs premise that parents in underdeveloped countries should be provided the means to keep their children is not arguable. Neither is UNICEFâs stance that international adoption should only be a last resort.
However, UNICEFâs tough and effective pressure tactics and lobbying efforts towards developing nations calling for ratification of the Hague Treaty for the Protection of Children and implementation of adoption law and policy models which…

There was a time when dentures were a âone size fits allâ catastrophe. Mass manufactured, dentures came in various sizes and your dentist was tasked with trying to find what pair fit you best. Through the application of messy adhesives, these dentures were affixed to your gumline, leaving you to simply hope for the best. Often times, these dentures will fall out at inopportune times, causing difficulties with eating, and even speaking. Modern dentistry has come a long way in improving dentures.

Cosmetic dentists, utilizing the latest in dental technology, are now able to custom create…

I am looking for a college in one of those three states to get my bachelors degree in education. I really would want to be a kindergarten teacher or 1st grade teacher.

Shoyn Tsayt. It’s about time someone put together a candid, thoughtful, representative book on dating for nice (and not so nice) Jewish girls. Though Furman, a 30-something author/lecturer on dating and life after college, intended to write something “witty, clever and caustic,” she, like so many SJFs, found out that there wasn’t much to laugh about. Her exhaustive research and insightful examples ensure that any Jewish girl will find something that evokes a smile of recognition. Anything but provincial, Furman quotes women from Tucson to Louisville as well as women from the “Jewtopias” of…
