When they first come home from the hospital they only it a couple of ounces. One month they have about 3 ounces. Two months they have about 4, maybe 5. 3 months they can have 6-8 ounces. 4 and 5 months they take around 8-10 ounces. Then they should be on baby food, and you’ll give them about 8 ounce bottles too (:. It depends on the baby, and how quickly he/she grows. Your doctor will tell you everything, if you should feed them more and stuff.

what i have done with my 3 month old is i started with a 4 oz bottle. as he got older he told me if he wanted more or not my Dr. said not to worry if he doesn’t eat the whole 4 oz. cause a baby between 0 and 3 mounts eats about 2 to 4 oz but mine will some times eat more than that. basically all u have to do is let ur baby tell u when he is hungry and how much he wants to eat.

My infant is now 4 weeks old. I have fed her what shes wanted from the beginning. The first day she only drank about an ounce and from there she was eating 2-3 ounces every 3-4hours. My doctor said to let her have whatever she wants, unless I notice her spitting up alot because shes over-eating! She now drinks 3-4 ounces every 3-4hours unless shes cluster feeding during the day and she eats about 5 ounces right before bed and sleeps about 4-5hours after that!! Just feed her as much as she wants…I make 4 ounce bottles and get more as needed so I’m not wasting! Good luck.

when was in the hospital my daughter barely ate 2 ouncer but once we got home she was drinking 4 ounces every couple hours but every babys diffrent feed them how much they want id start out with 4 and if he/she wanted more feed them more. my daughters 6 1/2 months old and drinks only 6 ounces every feeding she eats more than every 3 hrs tho.

  6. it varies.
my newborn ate 1 and a half oz. every 2 hours when she was born. She is now one month and eats 3 oz. Youll know when to give them more is because they’ll finish all their milk and maybe cry for more. Try adding a half of an ounce every week.

every baby is different approx 3oz to 6oz ish tho i would say depending on babies weight etc

  8. my 3 wk old daughter was eating 3 oz, but now we give her 4 oz. Basically after she drank her bottle, she still acted hungry and wasn’t going back to sleep very soon. So we tried giving her more. She kept it down, didn’t complain or resist, and was sleeping better.

My new born is 1 week old now. Ever since the day he was born he finish 2oz of milk in every feed ,sometimes he cries for more. And his in take grows more. But he is eating too much…that is what i think. As he crys and show signs of hunger every 1 hour or more. Not over 2 hours. No matter how i try other ways to stop him from crying. When i put him down again he starts to cry, he won’t stop until he is fed. And he eats around 3-4 oz everytime. Is it normal for new born to eat like this? Because i’m worried that he will over eat. O, and he seldom vomit.Ever since i brought him home till now, he only vomited twice. Please help me as i’m a first time mom. thanks

Hi, I am a mom of twins and am also having trouble producing enough milk, therefore giving formula as well. Go to a herb store and Fenugreek caps and a tea called “mothers milk”. This is what a lactation cons. told me to do. First day trying it myself.

  11. nicki says:

or how can i get her to take to the breast agian instead of the bottle????

  12. LSP says:

Fenugreek Tea or Mother’s Milk Tea is a natural way of helping the body produce milk. If both bottle and breastfeeding baby may have nipple confusion. Try being skin to skin with the baby and letting her find your nipple with little guidance from mom. Try nipple shields from any Target if this method doesnt work. Please contact a lactation consultant if needed. Best of luck!
