How Long Will A Pregnancy Test Show Positive After A Miscarriage?

I had spotting Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and then cramping Wednesday and Thursday. The test still shows positive. If I did have a miscarriage, how long will a pregnancy test still show positive?

it depends on the person. I lost my baby at 5 months and had to be induced to get him out of me and the hormones went away almost immediately. All my pregnancy hormones were gone in about 2 weeks. And a pregnancy test showed neg. But like I said everyone is different. If you get a positive pregnancy test I would go to the doctor and find out if it is because you are pregnant again or it’s just lingering hormones.

My bestfriend had a miscarriage, she just passed the baby finally today but the baby died inside her 4 wks ago. The dr told her that the HCG can take up to 2 wks to leave her system as long as all the tissue got cleaned out. Told her to retry in a month.
As long as you are just spotting that doesn’t mean a miscarriage because pregnant woman can spot but if you are concerned I would see the Dr to find out for sure.

  3. You should go to the emergency room and get checked out, if you have an ectopic pregnancy you will still test positive until the baby is aborted and if you had a miscarriage you may need to have a D&C before everything goes back to normal.

Mine showed neg straight away the 1st time. Go and see your doctor, you may or may not still be pregnant. Get a blood test and find out for sure. I hope you are ok.

my friend had a miscarriage almost 3 months ago and it showed positive for about 2 months. You should wait till you have one normal period cycle before trying to get pregnant again. best of luck!

you should go to your doctor to confirm if you miscarried. your body could retain some fragments and you might need whats called a D&C they clean out your uterus after a miscarriage.

it will probably stay like that for 2 weeks or longer because the hormones are still in your body

    I agree with champix

I found out I was pregnant and having a miscarriage (on the same day) four weeks ago. I am still having to go to the emergancy room every 2 days for more blood tests and still after this time my hormone level is at 280. Apparently any hormone level over 10 means your still pregnant. I’ve had spotting and pain/cramps for the whole four weeks, feels like its never going to end!!!

  10. A vaginal ultrasound could detect a pregnancy very soon after conception.. within days. However, a regular abd ultrasound takes much longer – maybe 6-8 weeks…
