Growing Up Just Got Easier…
With the help of Angus, the lovable Answer Dog, best-selling author Heidi Murkoff extends a hand to children and parents as they tackle life’s first experiences together.
It’s hard to believe, but your child’s starting preschool. Even if it’s just for a couple of hours two or three days a week, it seems such a big step for someone in such little sneakers. Not to worry — we’re here to help prepare both of you for that step. We’ll answer your child’s questions about what preschool is like, what preschoolers do, who teachers are, and how they help to make preschool such a fun and special place — so that the first day of preschool will be a day you’ll both look forward to.
Have fun!

Rating:
This is a well-written and thoughtful book, but it’s a bit wordy and factual for the early (2 1/2 – 3 year-old) preschool set. Probably better for child who is starting preschool at age 3 1/2 – 4.

We got this for my two year old who will be starting preschool in about a month. He loved this book and is so excited about going to preschool. He has to pack his backpack and a pretend lunch every morning then he carries his backpack around all day! It answers all the questions kids might have about preschool and it doesn’t talk about being scared of going to school which most books do and we don’t want him to expect to be scared so this book is perfect!

This book was a great help to my daughter when we were getting her ready for preschool the first time. She was almost 3 years old and had never been away from her mom or dad before. She is also rather shy. She loved the book and kept it with her all the time. We read it at night and any other time during the day she wanted to hear it. I have recommended this book to many people to help the transition. The transition to preschool went really well since she knew what to expect and she asks to go to school all the time.

My son, who has Autism, likes this book! It helped with preparing him for preschool. (which he started one day after turning 3) It is written like a social story. I did have to adjust the text a little while reading it..his class is all boys and they don’t play outside. He really likes the page “What is a teacher” and “will Mommy and Daddy stay with me”. It brought up things I did not think to tell him..like he would have a cubby of his own. He still likes to read this book after being in preschool for a couple weeks.

This book is good but a little long per page. Being a preschool teacher I look for fewer words per page and bright pictures. It had the pictures, just too many words. It did tell the children what they would be doing in preschool.
